🐈 Why is specific content banned?Due to varying human rights movements around the world, the mods have taken the decision to ban specific content from the hub and all events we run.Harry Potter - due to worsening climates around transphobia/transmisia within the UK and Brazil due to the BBC and the way JKRowling is heavily entwined with it, we are aware that some - not all - trans people view Harry Potter as hate imagery or marks people as unsafe for them to be around. Whilst we won't prevent creators creating this in their own time, we have made the collective decision to ban it from this fest.W^ndigos - Indigenous communities have been asking non-Indigenous peoples to stop creating works around this heavily culture tied belief. As the mods are not Indigenous we have opted to ban this from the fest to ensure that no works are created that infringe on the wishes of the Indigenous peoples of the US. We have censored the name as per the beliefs of Indigenous people.Sk^nwalkers - As with above, some Indigeous peoples have pointed out that there is an area where these works have been co-opted via non-Indigenous people for horror works and similar. Whilst this is present in many cultures and folk lore and legends, the Indigenous beliefs have been banned."Foreign magic person" - this trope has been banned on class of racism. It has been called out for many years and the mods do not wish for any creations from the events or the hub to cause discomfort, upset, or anger for any other participants or readers/viewers that are not part of the Hub.Ten's Thai name - in line with Thai name culture and beliefs (read more here), we have opted to ask people not to call him by his Thai name in his works. Whilst we know Ten uses his legal name fully at times, we are not Ten. We ask people to be respectful of the Thai culture whilst creating within our event.If creators are working within Thai/South Korean legends (or any other culture that does not belong to you), if you are not Thai or Korean, or anything similar, we ask that full research be done, the culture(s) be treated with respect and creators ensure they are not taking part in any form of cultural appropriation, being harmful in any form, or anything similar. If you are unsure, mods can and will help you research as best they can.We also please ask creators - fic authors especially - to read through this thread created by South Koreans about writing fic set in SK and to be wary of the things pulled up. Whilst we won't ban based on this, we do ask creators to have cultural sensitivity to a culture many of us are visitors within.if there is anything you feel is missing from this section, please either DM us or leave us a Zaqa. Mods will research and update as applicable.
